Mobile cinema to mobilize community against malnutrition

The Burundi Red Cross  uses mobile cinema to carry out awareness raising campaigns on behavior change. On the 30th May 2018, it was the turn of Mutimbuzi commune of the province of Bujumbura. Over 200 people attended the cinema show on nutrition held in Kinyinya village in Gatumba zone. Volunteers, presenters, interacted with participants on various aspect of nutrition. They also tried to clarify questions of the community and provided pieces of advice on nutrition.

Moreover, volunteers taught the reached people how to get a balanced diet based on local food. They further sensitized people on hygiene and maternal breastfeeding.

Participants say to be satisfied by the video based educational methodology developed by Red Cross for an effective communication with communities. They ask other cinema sessions on various topics.

The cinema show in Kinyinya village succeeded thanks to the support of the Support program for the sustainable Rural development for Nutrition, funded by European Union.
